Technical description
The EDISON idea, implemented in seven Pilot Actions, is based on the use of Solid State Lamps (SSLs) combined with a particular method of providing power to them, in order to realize a Smart Energy Platform (SEP), mainly aimed at realizing an efficient lighting system.
The SEP accommodates advanced ICT components and systems (e.g. smart metering, power electronics, mechanical/electrical sensors and actuators, etc.), which are designed to directly contribute to reduce energy losses and consumption.
The proposed solution integrates, in the same electrical power supply infrastructure, data originated in ICT components and systems, with the aim of implementing an highly accurate motion detection and control of individual lights and interacting with lighting control modules, wired/wireless sensors and actuators, giving evidence of the energy saving results, efficiency, real-time operation maximizing energy savings without distracting occupants.
